Time

February 10, 2009 · 2 Comments

It is said that Time is the greatest healer of all. It’s been a long time and as I go back in time, i see how true that is. Even though it has been a good while, it still feels like just yesterday, yet I find myself on the verge of a life changing milestone in my life. My life has changed dramatically in the last 3 years. Not even two years ago, I was living in Texas. Now I’m living in Arkansas – of all places! Yet, I have experienced many changes in my life and observed many big changes for the better.

No one can tell what tomorrow may bring, one thing I have learned is to have some faith and trust everything will be better tomorrow – whenever that may come.

I Am Not Afraid To Keep On Going

August 17, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Nothing you can say can stop me from going on, living on and reaching home.  I find that motivation is all around us, yet not everyone pays enough attention to recognize it. Even those that see it, don’t really register it and just keep going on their daily lives – unmotivated, unsatisfied and just settling for what is given to them. I have learned to always recognize that motivation, the positive spark, that tiny speck of hope. For if I didn’t learn to recognize it, how am I supposed to know what to look for? Nothing should and will stop me from going on and believing I can live on to reach my goal. For when I do, I’ll finally be home. Can you see that shining light?

Living For The Moments

January 4, 2007 · Leave a Comment

The sounds of gigles filled the room as she was being tickled by her uncle and god father – me. It was just an ordinary day that will always be remembered by all in that room.

Life moves so fast that sometimes all the problems, bad times and good times get blurred together. It’s good to recognize the simple things that makes life so precious – the moments filled with smiles, giggles, warm hugs and kisses. It’s funny that we spend so much money to attempt to bring some smiles to peoples faces by buying extravagent gifts, especially during the holiday season that just passed, yet all it takes most of the time is to just be there for someone.

A close friend of mine needs as many people as possible right now, yet I haven’t managed the courage to be there just yet. The situation just reminds me so much of the one my family just went through – and it’s just too painfull to watch from the sidelines as it happens to these great people. Why we are placed in this type of situation is very hard to understand – perhaps we shouldn’t try to understand it. Rather we must confront it head on and live for the moments. In the end, that’s all that we really leave behind.

I hope to obtain the necessary courage soon to help my friends see this tough time through and be there for their moments.

Fracaso (Failure)

October 22, 2006 · 1 Comment

-David Spyker.

I don’t think I could convey this any better than Mr. David Spyker. We could all use this sort of motivation every single day of our lives, sometimes even more than once through the day. We will always face disappointments, failures, or other such mishaps. However, our head should always be held high and are spirits always lifted, for we will always learn something new out of the situation and when a similar situation arises, we will know exactly how to confront it.

Our Own Worst Enemy

October 2, 2006 · Leave a Comment

We have met the enemy and it is us.

How many times have we doubted ourselves? Time and time again, we are constantly being judged and told we can’t make it. So much that we start to believe it ourselves. It is embeded in our conciousness so that when an opportunity arises to prove ourselves, we refuse to take it for fear of not being good enough. If we apply ourselves, take a chance and meet the challenges head on we will find out the real truth – we ARE good enough! Not only are we good enough to meet the challenge, but most of the time we exceed the expectations or requirements that are asked of us. We live in a country and a time where we can be anything we want. All it takes is hard work, dedication and some faith – faith in ourselves as much as religious faith. This past week has been proof of just that. Having the chance to talk to some very sucessfull professionals have opened my eyes to this reality. Companies all over the nation are realizing the gold mine that is the Hispanic Engineers and are shifting their focus to Universities such as UTPA for this valuable resource. We ARE good enough. Next time your are faced with the opportunity to challenge yourself, take it so that the world can see just how good you are – especially yourself.

The Parable of the Pebbles

August 6, 2006 · Leave a Comment

A man was out walking in the desert when a voice said to him, “Pick up some pebbles and put them in your pocket, and tommorow you will be both happy and sad.”

The man obeyed. He stooped down and picked up a handful of pebbles and put them in his pocket. The next morning he reached into his pocket and found diamonds and rubies and emeralds. He was both happy and sad. Happy he had taken some – sad that he hadn’t taken more.

And so it is with education.
